A tale of unity and resilience

On the 31st of August and 16th of September respectively, Malaysians from all walks of life come together to celebrate two of the most important days in our country’s history: Merdeka Day and Hari Malaysia.

Merdeka Day commemorates the day when Malaya gained its independence from the British on August 31, 1957. Hari Malaysia, on the other hand, celebrates the formation of the Federation of Malaysia on September 16, 1963, which brought together the states of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak, and Singapore.

This year, the celebrations for Merdeka Day and Hari Malaysia are particularly significant as they come at a time when the world is facing many challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic crisis, and the war in Ukraine. Merdeka Day 2023

Hari Malaysia 2023

The official Hari Malaysia celebrations this year were held at the Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The celebrations were attended by thousands of Malaysians, including the Governor of Sabah, the Chief Minister of Sabah, and other government officials.

The highlight of the celebrations was the raising of the Jalur Gemilang, followed by the singing of the national anthem, Negaraku. The crowd also sang patriotic songs and cheered for the country.
